TITLE: Athletic Director QUALIFICATIONS: - Holds a valid Kentucky teaching certificate; or
- Holds a Bachelor's degree or higher with 2.5 grade point average; or
- Has a minimum of three years successful teaching and coaching experience
- Has the proven ability to communicate effectively with students, staff parents, media, and community
REPORTS TO: Principal JOB GOAL: To provide each enrolled student in the school the opportunity to participate in an interscholastic athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport, and the principles of fair play
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Organize and administer the overall program of interscholastic athletics in his/her school
- Provide leadership in the selection, assignment, supervision, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members
- Promote good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program
- Organize and schedule all interscholastic athletic events
- Select officials, team physician, and security persons as required, and assume general responsibility for the proper supervision of home athletic events
- Arrange with the Director of Transportation for the transportation for athletic contest participants
- Arrange for meals for athletes and coaches when situation is warranted
- Develop appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities
- Prepare and administer the athletic program budget
- Requisition program supplies and equipment as provided for in the budget
- Supervise all ticket sales and fund-raising events of the athletic program, and assume responsibility for the accurate accounting of all monies
- Arrange all details of visiting teams' needs, including lodging, meals, towels, gymnasium services, and field assistance, as appropriate
- Work with the coaches to develop schedules for all athletic events, including practice schedules
- Assume responsibility for the physical examination of all athletes, and assume responsibility for the processing of all injury reports and claims
- Administer the insurance program covering school athletes
- Keep records of the results of all school athletic contests, and maintain a record file of all award winners
- Plan and supervise an annual recognition program for all school athletes
- Coordinate all planning for special athletic event
- Participate in those functions and activities as described in the regular teacher job description
- Have all students under supervision of certified personnel at all times at approved after school programs
- Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
