Child Life Specialist

Functioning as a member of the health care team, the Child Life Specialist is responsible for supporting children, teens, and family members in the health care setting by providing developmentally appropriate play/recreation and activities, education and preparation for medical procedures, and emotional support of the child and family.

Please note the following important details regarding this role:

  • This posting is for multiple openings of a Child Life Specialist
  • This role is an onsite position and will report onsite daily as scheduled
  • Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including weekends & holidays as scheduled
  • Work Status Available:
  • Full Time (Exempt overtime status), Day
  • Full Time (Exempt overtime status), Evening

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Family Studies or another closely related field of study
  • Coursework/Training: Child life specific clinical training experience (e.g., practicum and/or internship) in a pediatric medical setting
  • 600+ clinical hours supervised by a certified child life specialist
  • Coursework/Training: Trained in child development principles and impact of illness and hospitalization on children and families: Application of therapeutic play, developmental education, and expressive modalities to address psychosocial needs of children and families.
  • Upon Hire: National Certified Child Life Specialist - Association of Child Life Professionals

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of experience working with young children and adolescents in a healthcare setting
