DESCRIPTION Under supervision, the incumbent will serve as a Clinical Trials Research Assistant to the Principal Investigator (PI). The incumbent will perform standard, repetitive field procedures requiring technical and scientific knowledge. Major responsibilities include assisting the PI and research team with communication between pharmaceutical sponsors, conducting phone/EPIC screenings of patients, assisting with patient consent and interviews, data collection, completing case report forms, and scheduling patient visits. Clinical research duties also include maintaining inventories of instruments and supplies, and laboratory duties include managing lab kits, supplies, and processing and shipping specimens. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED plus two years of lab experience, or two years of college coursework in sciences plus one year of lab experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Coursework in physiology, biology, biochemistry, or microbiology is preferred. Experience handling biological samples such as blood and urine. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Excel, and data entry. Experience executing protocol-required tasks. Knowledge of cardiology patient populations and ability to perform telephone screenings. Ability to elicit clinically significant information from patients. Ability to perform lab duties safely and ship specimens timely. Strong teamwork skills and ability to contribute independently. Attention to detail in work performance. Effective communication skills with research subjects, sponsors, and staff. Ability to prepare IRB forms. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Flexible schedule including occasional weekends. Willingness to handle biological samples. Potential limited out-of-town travel for trial start-up meetings. Access to reliable transportation. Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check. PAY INFORMATION Annual Full Pay Range: $45,999 - $54,079 (prorated if less than full-time) Hourly Range: $22.03 - $25.90 Compensation factors include experience, skills, education, certifications, and organizational needs.
