Position Summary Supervise all professional Forensic Examiners (DIT) within the Albuquerque Police Department. Assist all DIT staff in providing expert-level intake, extraction, analysis, and reporting on criminal evidence that exists on social media and mobile device extractions. This position will supervise the day-to-day operations of the Criminal Investigations Division or the Investigative Services Division Forensic Examiners. This supervisor will assist all examiners to become familiar with a particular investigation and utilize their tools and training to help reconstruct different actors' communications, locations, and general use of their mobile devices and social media around the planning, execution, and cover-up of any criminal activity. This supervisor will verify all examiners assist other specialty units in certain investigations, and create intelligence briefs on bad actors identified on social media. Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university directly related to this job description; ;
and Six (6) years experience in digital media evidence collection;
and To include three (3) years of supervisory experience
Preferred Knowledge - Operations, services, procedures and activities of digital forensics
- Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation
- Digital media including social media applications, in personal use and law enforcement returns.
- Cellular records and how the major companies record these phone transactions.
- How phones work with cellular towers, and how the companies record these interaction.
- Digital forensics techniques, procedures and principles
- Methods and techniques of digital forensic collection and evaluation
- Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations
- Computers and various programs and data bases
Preferred Skills & Abilities - Supervise, direct and coordinate the work of lower level staff
- Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
- Coordinate and conduct public meetings
