Reports to: Basic Needs Operations Manager

Hiring Range: $18.00-$23.75/hr. DOE

Primary Function of Position

As the Employment Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals facing homelessness to find employment and achieve self-sufficiency. Your primary responsibilities include assessing clients' needs, providing training, and orienting them to the employment process. By offering support and guidance, you will help clients navigate the job market and develop the skills necessary for long-term success.

Major Position Responsibilities

  1. Client Assessment: Participate in client assessment and conduct pre-employment job readiness workshops as required by program regulations.
  2. Employment Planning: Design employment plans, follow-ups, service integration, and agency collaboration to meet the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
  3. Life Skills Instruction: Participate in teaching the Life Skills curriculum for students in the St. Vincent Kitchen Academy, and provide case management support to help them meet personal and program goals.
  4. Opportunity Development: Build relationships with public and private sector partners to develop new employment and training opportunities for clients. Participate in community meetings, task groups, and coalitions to strengthen partnerships, expand available resources, and enhance system knowledge.
  5. Job & Resource Fair Coordination: Coordinate and host three monthly job fairs on campus to connect clients with employment opportunities. Attend monthly resource fairs to promote services and programs offered at the Bishop Weigand Center.
  6. Application Assistance: Assist clients with application processes and arrange interviews for employment placement.
  7. Transportation Support: Help with transportation for interviews, orientation, and the first day of employment.
  8. Report Preparation: Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports in compliance with program regulations.
  9. Interview Scheduling: Schedule time and interviews for clients that comply with the benchmarks and regulations of the program.
  10. Documentation Maintenance: Maintain accurate and confidential program documentation while ensuring fidelity to program standards. Use the HMIS system to complete digital intakes, case notes, and file creation.
  11. Collaboration: Cooperate with case managers, other CCS staff, state agencies, and other service providers as necessary, in providing reports, documents, and other paperwork.
  12. Meeting Participation: Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  13. Facility Upkeep: Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both patrons and staff.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  1. This position is in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  2. Some local travel may be required.

Physical Demands

  1. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
  2. This role includes driving locally.

  1. Computer Proficiency: Skilled in Excel and Word for maintaining case files, completing documentation, scheduling appointments, and corresponding using Outlook.
  2. Cultural Competence: Experience working with other cultures.

  4. Problem Solving and Prevention: Strong problem-solving and problem-prevention skills.

  10. Personal Qualities: Personal qualities of openness and respect for co-workers and clients, compassion, and graciousness in helping clients to assess and face their situations and to accept assistance.

Education, Training, and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
  2. Prior case management or job development experience.

Background Screening Requirement

  1. Must pass a national BCI/FBI background check.

Licenses, certifications, and credentials

  1. Current Utah driver's license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per incident, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements.

Position status and expected schedule

  1. This position is scheduled to work five eight-hour shifts Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30.-
