The New York Post is seeking a
Part-Time Copy Editor to join the
Features/Lifestyle/Entertainment Desk . In this role, you will be copy editing feature-length and shorter stories about entertainment figures, movie and theater reviews, lifestyle trends, health and wellness, fashion and celebrity gossip on Page Six. The work schedule may vary for this role, with most shifts weekday afternoons and evenings for approximately 15-20 hours/week. Additional hours and occasional Sundays and late night coverage of award shows may also be needed. Shifts are primarily remote, but weekly shifts in our Midtown offices are required.
The ideal candidate: - Has experience copy editing, proofreading and fact checking on tight deadlines
- Is a fast learner who thrives on the pace of immediate and daily deadlines
- Able to multitask and juggle priorities during breaking news or high volume periods
- Has experience working in Wordpress or other CMS
- Has experience with print layouts and proofreading terms and language
- Is knowledgeable in AP style and easily adapts to house style specifics
- Has an excellent sense of grammar, diction and spelling
- Is familiar with New York City, its character and the arts and culture scene
- Keeps up with pop culture and celebrities
- Is interested in fashion, lifestyle, entertainment, health and wellness from an editorial perspective
- Appreciates the humor and unique perspective of the New York Post
- Open to entry-level candidates eager to learn
