Job Description

White Sands, a HumanGood life plan community in beautiful La Jolla, CA, is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join our team.

The Maintenance Supervisor will assist the Director of Buildings & Grounds in overseeing the work of our Maintenance Team. The work involves scheduling, directing and participating in specialized maintenance and repairs; reviewing and inspecting the work of direct reports; enforcing safety requirements; and be responsible for maintaining the physical environment of the community.

This position will assign, assist and supervise the day-to-day functions of maintenance personnel and interpret department policies and procedures as well as interface with resident and resident families regarding maintenance problems and any other information as requested. As a representative and team member of environmental services department, this position is expected to present oneself in a manner that reflects professionalism and ensures resident satisfaction.

Schedule: This is a full-time, salaried position - Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm with weekends and evenings as needed. Also responsible for being on-call for emergencies.

Pay Range: $70,000-$75,000, based on education and experience

A day in the life may include:

  • Assigns job tasks and oversees the work of maintenance staff.
  • Schedules and sets priorities of work orders and maintains and repairs all interior facilities.
  • Maintenance of all associated equipment, machines and tools including asset management in Worxhub.
  • Orders and inventories all maintenance supplies, materials and tools.
  • Trains all maintenance staff to successfully perform residential building maintenance.
  • Writes and conducts performance reviews and coordinates social and employee recognition activities for department.
  • Logs invoices and follows up on past due invoices.
  • Oversees maintenance of grounds, buildings and facilities.
  • Manages the property’s preventative maintenance program meeting all local, state and federal guidelines for life safety and licensure requirements.

What you will need: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates’ degree and/or completion of trade school preferred.
  • Two years’ supervisory experience preferred.
  • 4-6 years’ experience in general or commercial maintenance required.
  • CFC Certification preferred to perform HVAC, E.P.A.
  • CPO certification preferred.
