Job Overview: The Lead House Parent is critical in providing a structured, nurturing environment for teen mothers and their babies/children in a residential setting. Working Monday through Friday in 12-hour shifts, this position ensures safety, cleanliness, developmental support, and consistent implementation of program structure and expectations. The role involves hands-on care, supervision of residential staff, and support to the Residential Director in leadership and administrative responsibilities.
Schedule and Shift:
- Monday - Friday
- 12-hour shifts
- Occasional meetings or trainings outside of regular hours
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Provide daily supervision, emotional support, and structure for teen mothers and their children
- Ensure hygiene, safety, and supervision at all times
- Prepare meals/snacks and create a welcoming, family-style mealtime environment
- Oversee independent living skill-building and teach parenting skills
- Coordinate and transport residents to appointments and school
- Supervise Residential Assistants and ensure adherence to the CARE model and policies
- Participate in staffing, communicate with Case Managers, Therapists, and external agencies
- Manage household chores, laundry, and cleanliness to meet agency standards
- Conduct inventory and submit purchase requests for supplies, groceries, and toiletries
- Maintain thorough daily notes, progress documentation, and logbooks
- Submit monthly tracking forms, medication logs, and CQI documentation
- Coordinate and transport residents to medical/dental appointments
- Use de-escalation techniques (WELLE/NAPPI) as needed
- Assist with school engagement, homework, and planned activities
- Ensure medication management, including documentation and compliance
Qualification:
- Education: High School diploma or GED required
- Associate Degree in Social Work preferred
- 2 years of experience working with children
- Experience in child care, maternity, residential support, or social services is strongly preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Willingness to undergo training in CARE and agency compliance standards
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage crises.
- Comfortable in fast-paced, emotionally demanding environments
