Okta Engineer Title: Okta Engineer Location: 100% Remote from the US Engagement Type: Contract We are seeking a seasoned Okta specialist for a client engagement. The successful candidate will be an expert in Okta's access management capabilities, responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our client’s single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions. This is a hands‑on role requiring deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of identity and access management (IAM) principles to meet the client’s project goals. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, and implement Okta solutions for access management, focusing on SSO and MFA for new and existing applications. Integrate a wide variety of applications with Okta for SSO using protocols such as SAML, OIDC, and SWA. Integrate Okta with other enterprise services such as CyberArk, Microsoft Entra ID, and other IAM solutions. Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., PowerShell) to automate administrative tasks and workflows. Develop and maintain Okta access policies, including sign‑on policies and MFA configurations. Act as the subject‑matter expert for Okta‑related issues, providing advanced troubleshooting for SSO and MFA incidents. Ensure that all Okta configurations and integrations adhere to the client’s security standards and compliance requirements. Collaborate with client application owners, project managers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver robust access‑management solutions. Create and maintain detailed documentation of Okta configurations, integrations, and processes for project deliverables. Qualifications and Experience 3–5 years of hands‑on experience with Okta, focusing on access management, SSO, MFA, and Universal Directory. Okta Certified Professional or Okta Certified Administrator is desirable. Strong understanding of IAM concepts, including the distinction between access management and IGA. In‑depth knowledge of SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and SCIM. Experience integrating a variety of applications (SaaS and on‑prem) with Okta. Familiarity with Active Directory, LDAP, and other directory services. Proficiency in PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a project‑based environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
