Job Title: Operator I Location: Irvine, California
Status: Non-Exempt
Shift: 5AM to 1:30PM
Position Summary The Operator I is responsible for producing high-quality medical devices within a manufacturing cell environment. Working under close supervision, this role performs routine assembly, repair, and testing operations on pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), leads, and related device components. Work is performed according to standardized procedures and is closely reviewed to ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities - Assemble, repair, and test medical device components and finished products following documented work instructions.
- Perform routine manufacturing assignments in accordance with standardized procedures and quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate production, traveler, and quality documentation to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Utilize electronic data collection systems and standard computer software to record production activities.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with manufacturing leadership regarding issues, observations, and improvement opportunities.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements while operating equipment and tools.
- Participate in continuous improvement and quality initiatives to support production efficiency and performance metrics.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Support individual and cell performance goals established with Manufacturing Supervisors or Managers.
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude when interacting with internal teams and external visitors, including facility tours.
- Support divisional initiatives and comply with Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications - High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures and verbal instructions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage work sequencing based on urgency and importance.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and compliance.
- Ability to handle and maneuver small, delicate components.
- Ability to make sound decisions and judgments with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic data collection systems.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements - Manufacturing cell and cleanroom environment.
- Standing, sitting, repetitive hand motions, and fine motor skills required.
- Compliance with strict gowning, cleanliness, and contamination-control standards is mandatory.
Dress Code & Cleanroom Requirements Due to the regulated medical device manufacturing environment, strict dress code compliance is required during interviews, tours, and daily work:
- Clothing must be non-shedding , clean, and free of frayed hems, loose fibers, glitter, sequins, tassels, or contaminants.
- Sweaters, fleece, loose knit garments, or shedding fabrics are not permitted.
- All clothing from the waist up must fit fully under lab coats or gowns.
- Sleeves and collars must not extend beyond gown cuffs or neckline.
- Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes required; heel height must not exceed 2 inches.
- No sandals, clogs, open-toe, or open-heel shoes allowed.
- Jewelry, body piercings that cannot be covered, makeup, nail polish, artificial nails, and scented products are prohibited.
- Lip balm (stick form only) may be applied outside production areas prior to handwashing.
- Any open or bleeding wounds must be fully covered with a bandage.
- Clothing or items deemed offensive are not permitted.
