Assignment Dates: 11/24/2025 – 08/31/2026
Type: Temporary-to-Permanent (Opportunity to extend or convert based on business needs)
Pay Rate: $16.27/hour

Position Overview

The  Patient Escort is responsible for safely and courteously transporting hospital and ambulatory patients to and from various destinations within the medical facility. This role is critical to ensuring patient comfort, safety, and timely arrival to appointments while maintaining a high standard of customer service and infection control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Escort patients traveling by  wheelchair, stretcher, or hydraulic stretcher to their designated locations throughout the facility.
  • Sanitize wheelchairs before and after each use following the  Wheelchair High-Touch Disinfection/Inspection Protocol .
  • Complete  Daily Disinfection & Tracking Logs for each escorted patient.
  • Ensure patients are transported safely and promptly to their initial appointments or other required destinations.
  • Provide courteous and compassionate assistance to patients, caregivers, and medical staff.
  • Maintain patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA and hospital safety standards.
  • Demonstrate consistent punctuality and dependability in attendance.
  • May be assigned to assist at  locations outside of the Main Campus as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of patient care experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in  customer service or working directly with the public strongly preferred.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to  push or transport patients weighing up to 250 pounds safely.
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods during shift.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to follow infection control protocols.

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Shift: 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM (Part-Time)
  • Schedule: Rotating weekends and some holidays required.
  • Must maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
