Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all monitoring activities to ensure the finished product complies with food safety and quality specifications.
  • Enforces compliance with company GMP guidelines on the line and throughout the plant.
  • Supervise verification of monitoring activities to ensure the finished product complies with food and safety quality specifications.
  • Act as the QA lead in the maintenance of the Food Safety and Quality system.
  • Interface with other departments and trainers to develop and implement food safety programs as required.
  • Reports all safety, quality, issues, and deviations to upper management.
  • Comply with all Plant, State, Federal, OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF guidelines and regulations for food safety, quality, and employee safety.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices requirements to ensure food safety and safe work practices.
  • Plan and conduct all plant-wide training for all programs required for food safety and food quality.
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive quality control programs.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to enhance product quality and consistency.
  • Work closely with suppliers to establish and maintain quality standards for raw materials and ingredients.
  • Conduct supplier audits and evaluations to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Periodically review the food safety program to ensure it complies with all USDA, State, and Local laws and customer requirements.
  • Conduct unannounced audits and mock recalls.
  • Improve the food safety and quality programs through ongoing analysis of the production equipment, process, procedures, and team.
  • Review quality reports and conduct root cause analysis on deviations.
  • Create a culture that recognizes the importance of food safety and quality at the plant.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in food manufacturing, with relevant experience in Quality and Food Safety
  • Must have experience with meat or meat snacks.
  • A high school diploma or 4-year degree in food science, food engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve quality issues.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including HACCP, USDA, BRCGS, SQF, and other relevant standards.
  • SQF/PCQI / HAACP Certified a plus
  • Internal auditor training a plus
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Computer skills, including MS Office
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage conflict, and adapt to rapid change.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to overcome challenging obstacles and can prioritize and change direction as needed.
  • Must have demonstrated excellence in critical thinking and ability to be pragmatic and tactical as needed.
  • Must have a passion and curiosity for food and beverage operations.
  • Ability to travel as required (<5% of the time).
  • Valid driver’s license
