Job Description

A Social Worker is needed to support the social and emotional development of students within an elementary school setting in New London, CT. This contract position offers the opportunity to work throughout the current school year (CSY), partnering with educators, families, and community resources to foster a positive and supportive environment for young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop and implement intervention plans
• Assess student needs and provide crisis intervention as necessary
• Connect families with community resources and support services
• Maintain accurate case records and documentation in compliance with school policies and confidentiality standards
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and coordinate services

Desired Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
• Licensed or license-eligible social worker according to state requirements
• Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in elementary education settings
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, families, and staff
• Knowledge of community resources and child welfare systems
• Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
