Snowflake Data Architect

12 Month Contract

As a member of WMRE you will deliver insights and solutions across the organization in areas such as routing, logistics, revenue management, customer experience, people analytics, business operations and more.

Job Summary:

The Data Architect will coordinate the movement, enhancement, integration, quality, and availability of data throughout the Enterprise. Working closely with the business and application teams including BI, the Data Architect will analyze and translate business needs into appropriate data deliverables, and design and develop solutions for Master, Reference, and Transaction data to create single versions of the truth. The candidate will oversee creation of data models, data flow diagrams, data mappings, and data dictionaries and will maintain all data artifacts. S/he will develop an understanding of data processes and data dependencies; facilitate the creation of data strategies emphasizing the use of modern technologies and frameworks and own strategic roadmaps and ensure they remain in sync with business strategy goals; assist in the development, execution, and supervision of plans, policies, programs, and practices.

The Data Architect will also assist in issue resolution, in operationalizing Data Governance, in assessing, measuring, and tracking data quality issues, in creating and maintaining data SOP’s, standards and guidelines, and control processes for audits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models for both relational and dimensional solutions.

· Integrate disparate data models into coherent enterprise data models.

· Create data dictionaries and business glossaries to document data lineages, data definitions and metadata for all business-critical data domains.

· Identify and reconcile inconsistencies in data definitions, e.g., synonyms and homonyms.

· Work with business stakeholders to identify critical data (entities and attributes) and capture how data is interpreted by users in various parts of the organization.

· Draft and communicate future data integration strategy and vision.

· Advance data strategy and architecture through execution of proofs of concept.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

· Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

· 5+ years of experience with information modeling, information visualization, data modeling, data management technologies, data integration, data sourcing, data analytics, data warehousing, metadata, semantics, and ontologies.

· Experience with Snowflake, Data Vault 2.0, and data warehouse automation a major plus .

· Familiarity with modern data management concepts including Cloud-based Data warehousing, Big Data stack, NoSQL, in-memory DBMS, and data caching; graph databases.

· Familiarity and experience in data protection and information security.

· Strong understanding of large-scale system, information, and technology architectures, including application integration patterns, messaging, service-oriented architecture, information models, and data lineage.

· Hands-on experience with data and process modeling tools (e.g., ERWin, ProVision, Magic Draw, Power Designer), and working knowledge of programming languages such as: Python, PERL, Java, JavaScript, C++, shell.

· Demonstrated ability to work individually and as a part of the team in a collaborative manner.

· Demonstrated experience in Conceptual, Logical, Physical and Dimensional Modeling.

· Working knowledge of ETL and other data integration utilities.

· Experience with Agile/Scrum is valuable.

· Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection.
