Harris-Stowe State University is a historically Black institution (HBCU) located in the heart of vibrant mid-town St. Louis, Missouri. Harris-Stowe’s beautiful campus is minutes from the renown Gateway Arch, St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Art and History Museums, Forest Park and other cultural and educational institutions. Harris-Stowe’s diverse faculty and staff provide a wide range of academic programs to one of the most culturally diverse student bodies in the St. Louis region. Essential Functions

  • Performs duties such as financial record keeping, and fiscal management for all Title III-funded activities
  • Answers non-routine correspondence and assembles highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Assists in the development and execution of new or revised programs, procedures, and practices.
  • Assists in completing federal reporting and budget distribution for activities and programs.
  • Provides grant management technical assistance training for Title III Activity Directors.
  • Works directly with activity directors and program staff to promote communicating internal processes for approval.
  • Assists in obtaining and interpreting program guidelines.
  • Assists with supervising office personnel.
  • Assists Director with fiscal audits, including forecasting for reporting and planning purposes.
  • Assists with the determination of Title III award activity complications.
  • Acts as a resource for obtaining regulatory information.
  • Implements compliance policies and procedures for grant proposals and awards for Title III.
  • Develops monitoring tools for the review of compliance issues.
  • Prepares grant documents and communication to present information relevant to grant activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or designee

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and Word, for grant and report writing
  • Database management and analysis
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail
  • General knowledge of general accounting principles
  • Ability to effectively communicate; general understanding of federal regulations, guidelines, and practices
  • Ability to independently execute responsibilities
  • Ability to interface professionally with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience in college or university grant administration or a related field; or a combination of training and experience
  • Candidates must work well with individuals from all areas of the academic community (faculty, staff, students, administrators, alumni, friends, and supporters), the federal government, the state government, foundations, the corporate world, and others as appropriate.

Physical Requirements

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
