Job Title: TITLE IX COORDINATOR
The Title IX Coordinator ensures the university's compliance with Title IX and related laws, handling complaints of sex discrimination and sexual misconduct. They oversee investigations, promote a safe environment, and coordinate educational initiatives. The coordinator also works with various campus offices and external legal counsel to mitigate risk and maintain compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Compliance Oversight:
The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all Title IX-related matters, ensuring the college adheres to relevant federal and state laws, including Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act, and New York State law 129-B.
• Complaint Handling:
They handle and investigate complaints of sexual misconduct, discrimination, and harassment, coordinating with other campus departments like Student Life and Counseling Services.
• Support & Accommodation:
The coordinator provides support and guidance to individuals who have experienced sexual misconduct or discrimination, including offering supportive measures and referrals to other resources.
• Education & Training:
They play a crucial role in developing and delivering training programs to educate the campus community about Title IX, sexual misconduct prevention, and reporting procedures.
• Policy Development:
The coordinator helps develop and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Title IX and other relevant laws.
• Collaboration & Communication:
They work closely with various campus departments, including Human Resources, Student Life, and legal counsel, to ensure a coordinated and consistent response to Title IX matters.
• Risk Mitigation:
The coordinator works with legal counsel to identify and mitigate potential risks to the college related to Title IX.
• Reporting & Record Keeping:
They maintain accurate records of all Title IX reports, investigations, and resolutions.
In essence, the Title IX Coordinator is a key figure in fostering a safe and equitable environment for all members of the campus community by ensuring compliance with Title IX and related laws, providing support to those affected by discrimination and misconduct, and promoting education and awareness about these issues.
