Job Description & RequirementsMedSurg RN – Floor 6 (MedSol Prescreen / Manager Interview Required)\n\nBeds: 35\n\nRatios: 1:4–5, acuity-based using real-time acuity tool\n\nCertifications: BLS\n\nPatient Population: High-acuity, multi-specialty surgical unit\n\nBariatric (Center of Excellence), Urology (TURP, cysto, prostatectomy, CBI), Colorectal\n\nVascular (AAA repair, endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass)\n\nAcute Care Surgery, GYN (hysterectomies)\n\nPlastics/Breast Reconstruction (mastectomies)\n\nCF and medical patients; also Whipple & Pectus surgeries\n\nExperience & Skills\n\nRequired: 2+ years MedSurg\n\nMust be proficient: Central lines, NG tubes, ostomies, drains, professional communication\n\nPreferred: Foley & CBI management\n\nDrips: No titration; heparin only\n\nSupport & Staffing\n\nCharge Nurse: No assignment; strong leadership support (ANMs, manager, 24/7 coverage)\n\nCNAs: 1:8–10\n\nTele: Remote monitoring; RNs must read strips\n\nRT: CPAP, high flow; BiPAP occasional (BiPAP-dependent patients transferred)\n\nScheduling & Logistics\n\nShifts: 12s, 7a–7p / 7p–7a; scheduler places travelers after core staff; aims for 3 nights in a row when possible\n\nWeekends: Every other (may increase if needed)\n\nHolidays: As needed\n\nCall: None\n\nFloating: To like MedSurg units at Meridian & Nampa Medical Centers; travelers first to float (not frequent)\n\nScrubs: Any clean, professional color\n\nOrientation: 1 unit shift + 1 didactic day with educator (after hospital orientation)\n\nRadius Rule: 50 miles — permanent address required at submission to verify eligibility.
