HR Benefits Consultant – 401(k) Focus

Pay Rate: $35/hr. BOE

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Location: Fort Worth, TX 76164 (Hybrid – 1–2 weeks onsite for training, then primarily remote)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Spanish bilingual HR Benefits Consultant to provide short-term expert assistance focused on stabilizing and strengthening the company’s 401(k) operations. This role will partner closely with internal HR leadership and external vendors to ensure accuracy, compliance, and readiness for year-end responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing plan audits, vendor coordination, and compliance testing, and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plan Operations and Accuracy

• Partner with the 401(k) vendor to correct payroll contribution errors and calculate missed earnings or interest.
• Audit plan activity from the transition with the previous parent company through current operations to ensure data accuracy and compliance.

Compliance and Planning

• Prepare for the upcoming annual plan audit and Form 5500 filing.
• Draft a 401(k) Committee Charter and define fiduciary roles and responsibilities.
• Identify and document key compliance deadlines and internal workflows.

Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination

• Clarify and document roles across vendors, internal stakeholders, and fiduciaries.
• Evaluate the timing and feasibility of a potential vendor transition in 2026.

Training and Documentation

• Develop and deliver training for new plan administrators or benefits staff.
• Create supporting documentation for 401(k) operations and compliance processes.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience with John Hancock Plan Administration (strongly preferred).
• Experience with FuturePlan and/or Empower or T. Rowe Price plan administration.
• Deep understanding of 401(k) plan operations, audits, and compliance testing.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in benefits administration with a strong emphasis on 401(k) plan management.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and formulas).
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Word.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
• Must be Spanish bilingual.
