Business Continuity Leader

Ergon Inc. seeks a full-time Business Continuity Leader to join our Risk Performance team in Flowood, MS. The Business Continuity Leader is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining business continuity and disaster recovery strategies and solutions to ensure organizational resilience. This role involves identifying potential risks and vulnerabilities that could impact critical business functions, leading the development of recovery plans, coordinating cross-functional response teams, and conducting regular testing and training exercises. The Business Continuity Leader works closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders to align continuity strategies with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, ensuring minimal disruption in the event of a crisis or operational failure.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in risk management, Business, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, or risk management
  • Advanced business continuity certification preferred
  • The ability to analyze business processes, identify risk, and develop effective continuity plans is crucial
  • Experience in crisis management and emergency planning
  • Familiarity with business continuity software preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate, and improve others
  • Proactively identifies improvement needs and proposes solutions for better outcomes

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design comprehensive business continuity management plans tailored to the organization's specific needs and risks.
  • Identify and assess potential threats, vulnerabilities, and risks to the organization's operations, assets, and reputation.
  • Prioritize risks based on their likelihood and potential impact on critical business functions and processes.
  • Conduct thorough business impact analysis to determine the criticality of business functions and processes.
  • Define recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) for each critical function.
  • Develop clear and concise policies and procedures governing business continuity planning and management.
  • Ensure policies align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives.
  • Offer specialized training for key personnel involved in executing business continuity plans and procedures.
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination and collaboration among departments and teams involved in business continuity efforts.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, such as emergency responders, government agencies, and vendors, to enhance response capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of business continuity plans, procedures, and related documentation.
  • Generate reports and metrics to track the implementation and effectiveness of business continuity activities.
  • Prepare post-incident reports to document lessons learned and recommendations for improvement.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on feedback, lessons learned, and performance metrics.
  • Lead the organizations response to business disruptions, activating business continuity plans and mobilizing response teams.
  • Coordinate response efforts, allocate resources, and manage communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate internal and external audits of the organizations business continuity program to assess compliance and effectiveness.
